Teen Choice Awards Engage In A Bit Of Prediction

Jun 15th, 2009 // 1 Comment

Nominees for the surfy Teen Choice Awards were announced today, and the music-related categories were dominated by the usual suspects–GaGa, Kanye, Beyonce, Britney, Taylor. And leading the pack of nominees for Teen Choice Album is the Jonas Brothers’ Lines, Vines, And Trying Times–a neat trick, since the album doesn’t come out until tomorrow. It couldn’t be because the Bros Jo are hosting the show, could it? Or that there’s a huge honking banner ad for Lines right on the show’s official site? How could I even think that such an upstanding network like Fox would engage in these sorts of shenanigans with a trio that they’ve collectively nominated for Choice Male Hottie? Full list of music-related nominees after the jump.

  1. Today, my votes would be:

    Choice Music: Single
“My Life Would Suck Without You,” Kelly Clarkson

    Choice Music: Hook Up
Lady GaGa ft. Colby O Donis,” Just Dance”

    Choice Music: Male Artist
    Ne-Yo

    Choice Music: Female Artist
    Lady GaGa
(strongest category, I actually liked 4 out of 5!)

    Choice Music: Rap Artist
    Kanye West

    Choice Music: R&B Artist
    Ne-Yo

    Choice Music: Rock Group
    Green Day

    Choice Music: Breakout Artist
    Lady GaGa

    Choice Music: Love Song
    “Love Story,” Taylor Swift

    Choice Music: R&B Track
“Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” Beyonce

    Choice Music: Rap/Hip-Hop Track

But if I were an actual teen I’d just be complaining about how Jarvis Cocker and the Horrors didn’t get nominated for anything.
