Lady GaGa Wants To Look Her Leakers In The Eye

Yesterday, a new track purportedly by Lady GaGa made the rounds, and oh man was the pantsless pop star peeved. “I wrote ‘second time around’ recently for a current recording artist,” she Tweeted. “I don’t know why people insist on leaking my work.” It’s pretty obvious once you hear “Second Time Around” that it wasn’t going to be a solo track for GaGa, at least in its current form; it’s a wrenching, piano-heavy song that has an aggressively generic quality about it, and overall it seems more appropriate for a re-re-release of the Pussycat Dolls’ Doll Domination than anything branded with the GaGa mark. Hear for yourself after the jump.

Kind of bland, no? Oh well, at least the title made me realize that GaGa would be well-matched to cover Shalamar’s 1979 disco track of the same name.

  1. Why is this woman famous? Her songs aren’t good, she’s a polished turd looks-wise… I just don’t get it.

  2. This is a dud, but you get 100 million points for the Shalamar ref!

  3. @Weezy F Baby: I really want to agree with you here, but…I drive to work and usually listen to the radio. I have twelve presets for radio stations. And sometimes her songs really are the most interesting thing to listen to on the radio. You could make many conclusions from that statement. I know that being catchy is different than being good, but those singles are catchy.

  4. Am I the only one who might be looking forward to a deluxe “re-re-release of the Pussycat Dolls’ Doll Domination“???

  5. @drinkypuss: I think you’re probably right. I have yet to hear any Lady Gaga mostly because I am not fond of radio…but I am also afraid that the whispers that she is pretty talented are correct. Not sure what I am afraid of…I am so ready for mainstream pop to stop sucking.

  6. @ObtuseIntolerant: Large portions of her album are supremely listenable and likeable, and the singles in particular. However, you’re already under the impression mainstream pop sucks right now when there’s actually huge amounts of great stuff out there…so I dunno if you’ll think she’s any good or not.

  7. Also, I just noticed in that pic up there that she’s got Chrissie Hynde’s face, ca. 1982.

  8. @RobMurphy: don’t say that too loudly, or it actually might happen.

  9. I think it’s been a while since I last mentioned that I love Lady Gaga and am looking forward to hearing future work. But not the Pussycat Dolls. How long has that concept been setting the world to sleep?
