Will The Ability To Embody Adam Levine Cause People To Re-Embrace Music Games?

The music-game genre may be suffering from slow sales to the point that Guitar Hero maker Activision is putting out a “buy one get one free” offer to anyone interested in purchasing either of the series’ next two games—but that hasn’t stopped the company from going full-speed ahead with the imaginatively titled Band Hero. The difference between the two heroes? Well, Band is a bit more “social” than Guitar, with a “party play” mode that allows people to hop, skip, and jump around the game’s catalog without being forced to clear any boring old hurdles And Band is also decidedly more pop-leaning, as evidenced by its Starburst-colored site, as well as users’ ability to outfit their avatars in the styles of Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. No word yet on whether you can shoot someone dead in a special bonus round, but wouldn’t that be a genius bit of synergy?
