Alphabeat Pop Up On The Radio

Aug 28th, 2009 // 3 Comments

A public service announcement to those of you who felt scarred by the 3OH!3/Katy Perry atrocity in the previous post: The new single by Danish popsters Alphabeat premiered on Radio 1 earlier today, and while I have yet to find an embeddable stream of the radio rip, Mediafire links are “out there.” (Although as expected for the August premiere of a single that isn’t out until October, said streams are getting pulled down pretty quickly.) The song’s a fun little bit of retro-pastiche called “The Spell”; by some chance of iTunes coincidence my first spin of it segued into Jody Watley’s “Don’t You Want Me,” and it sounded perfect. Needless to say that’s an endorsement from these quarters! (Popjustice has a snippet here.) [MySpace; thanks Candice!]

  1. My friend Rohan is an Alphabeat superfan and for about a week he forced me to listen to them. I bitched and moaned about it and then he left the CD in my car and I had to give in. It’s probably the happiest music ever. All I want to do is dance around in my room and be sixteen years old. PS I totally wanted to see them in ATL with Katy Perry with my friend Dan but the two of us decided we would feel creepy in a sea of tween.

  2. Ha, I first read this and thought to myself, “Alphaville is still making music?” If you now want to watch/listen to “Forever Young,” here’s the video:
