And The ‘Avatar’ Theme Song Goes To…Leona Lewis!

When it comes to big budget holiday season popcorn movies that need a theme song, apparently Avatar director James Cameron feels the 2009 equivalent of Celine Dion is Leona Lewis.

The BBC reports that Lewis, whose new album Echo is out tomorrow, will sing Avatar tune “I See You.” And Cameron isn’t taking any chances—James Horner and Simon Franglen, two of the producers who struck gold with Celine Dion’s Titanic theme “My Heart Will Go On,” are doing the knob twiddling.

Hopefully Leona’s “I See You” fares better than Adam Lambert’s schlocky “Time For Miracles,” the ballad from big bucks disaster flick 2012. The latter got no higher than #50 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart a few weeks back, despite the fact that 2012 raked in $65 million this past weekend.

Ironically, #50 is the same position Lewis’ latest single “Happy” has peaked at so far.
