Taylor Swift Makes ‘Valentine’s Day’ Lovelier With “Today Was A Fairytale”

Taylor Swift is making her feature film debut in the rom-com hot mess that is Valentine’s Day (that’s her dead center of the film’s poster, making eyes at ex-bf Taylor Lautner). And in an oh-so-clever tie-in, the 20-year-old star is packaging her first appearance on the silver screen with a new song for the soundtrack: the strummy mid-tempo “Today Was a Fairytale.” Spoiler alert: it’s no “”You Belong With Me.” But is it maybe the next “My Heart Will Go On” of movie love themes? (Oh wait, that’s “I See You“.) Give it a listen to it after the jump.

Taylor Swift – “Today Was a Fairytale” from Valentine’s Day

Nothing too exciting about this song—the lyrics are lacking the wit of her better material, and it sounds a bit like a lesser version of “Fifteen.” Still, it’s got Taylor singing it, and if 2010 is anything like 2009, it’s going to be a hit.

The Valentine’s Day soundtrack, which features another Swift track “Jump Then Fall,” will be released on February 9, and here’s the full track listing, chock full of obvious V-Day themed song choices:
