Cebu Inmates Dance To Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Really Care About Us”

It’s a law enforcement credo: don’t do the time if you can’t learn the choreography. The dancing Filipino inmates are back with another Michael Jackson homage, and this time they received an assist from MJ’s own dance whiz. This time, the prisoners at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) work out the dance steps for History‘s “They Don’t Really Care About Us.” Either the inmates have a delicious appreciation for irony (they know the the single’s music video is set in a prison, right?), or they’re really excited about today’s release of the This Is It DVD. Whatever. Watch the incredible dance after the jump:

According to Sony Pictures’ YouTube page, Michael Jackson’s longtime choreographer Travis Payne (along with two dancers) visited the maximum security prison to teach the inmates dance steps featured in This Is It. (What, no Orianthi appearance?)

The inmates’ vid is certainly a much more upbeat tribute to Jackson than would be, say a second season of his brothers’ reality show. A new dance from the prisoners certainly makes for clever marketing for the This Is It DVD, though we’re not sure it needed much promotion. This Is It does not bring up the King of Pop’s death (other than via a dedication to Jackson’s children), but the bonus features on the DVD include remembrance clips, as well as extra rehearsal footage from the “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal” set pieces, and several making-of featurettes.

Not included on the DVD: the Filipino inmates’ MJ tributes, unfortunately. But you can check out more of their routines (including tackled  “Thriller,” “Dangerous,” and a medley of Jackson’s hits), at their YouTube page. Almost makes us wish we were in prison so we could learn these sweet moves! (But not quite.)
