Track Listing For Jason Derulo’s Debut Album

The full track listing for Jason Derulo’s self-titled debut album (out March 2) has been revealed, and so have a few surprises. Many of the hip-pop singer’s surfaced tracks we assumed to be on the album ended up not making the final cut, and at only nine songs long, the LP seems fairly on the short side. (Especially considering Jason’s claim that he wrote over 300 songs in the studio with producer J.R. Rotem.) Then again, Michael Jackson’s Thriller only had nine songs, so as long as those nine are beyond awesome, Jason doesn’t have to worry about his fans feeling slighted. Particularly since he’s going above and beyond marketing this album with a five-part web series.

Here’s the full track listing for Jason Derulo:
“Ridin’ Solo”
“The Sky’s The Limit”
“What If”
“Love Hangover”
“Encore”
“Fallen”
“Blind”

Where’s “Revolution,” “Sleep Walkin’” and “Message in a Bottle/She Flys Me Away“? Unless they’ve been renamed, these tracks (which we very much enjoyed on first listen) are mysteriously missing. Let’s hope these potential hits are at least released as bonus tracks or on the inevitable deluxe edition of Jason Derulo.

Before we get to any rereleases, the first LP still has to come out. To promote it, Team Derulo made an autobiographical, scripted five part web series about Jason’s rise to the top, with Jason playing himself. Through the exposition-heavy writing and flashback dramatizations, we discover all about his path to success. It’s like Curb Your Enthusiasm, but taking itself seriously.

We give him props for thinking out of the box, but we would have much prefered if Jason just gave a straight-up interview than relying on reenactments of him recording in his mother’s car. Or even better, if he just stuck to writing inspirational messages on his Twitter account:

Now that’s a song lyric we hope to see featured on his album.
