Matt Morris Does ‘Lopez Tonight,’ Hears His Song On The Radio For The First Time
After partnering up with Justin Timberlake and Charlie Sexton at the Hope For Haiti Now telethon two weeks ago, Matt Morris has found a suprise hit on his hands with “Hallelujah.” The trio’s cover of the Leonard Cohen tune initially debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #48, and this week jumped up to #13.
Morris, who helped pen Kelly Clarkson’s “Miss Independent” with Christina Aguilera, hit up Lopez Tonight to perform his reggae-inflected song “Love,” which Matt wrote for his husband Sean Michael Morris. Watch below!
And while we’re on the topic of amore, Matt spoke of love, particularly the same-sex kind, with the Huffington Post last month.
“When certain fundamental elements of life become political, like love, to have any integrity, you have to have a political voice,” he said. “You just have to be honest.”
Here’s a video Morris uploaded yesterday while listening to his song “Live Forever” being played on San Diego’s 94.1 FM—the first time he ever heard one of his songs on the radio:
