10 Break Up Songs For Those Not Rushing To See ‘Valentine’s Day’

Taylor Swift might have been fortunate to land a role in the romantic hodgepodge that is Valentine’s Day, but the fairytale-obsessed singer with the Album of the Year isn’t always lucky in love. (Just ask Joe Jonas.) Since she specializes in lyrics about unrequited love and being kicked to the curb by a boy, it’s no surprise that Swift landed a song on AOL’s The Boot countdown of the 10 Best Break Up Songs country music has to offer. The site’s top 5 picks below: 1. “Blame It On Your Heart” – Patty Loveless

2. “How Am I Doin'” – Dierks Bentley

3. “Picture To Burn” – Taylor Swift

4. “Kiss This” – Aaron Tippin

5. “Kerosene” – Miranda Lambert

Lambert’s “Gunpowder and Lead” would have been a great choice for this list, too, but “Kerosene” certainly fits the bill. And Loveless has the perfect name for writing an angry-as-hell breakup song like “Blame It On Your Heart,”calling her ex lover “lying, cheating, cold dead-beating, two-timing, double dealing, mean, mistreating.” But when it comes to ugly breakups, we think it could get much, much uglier than simple name calling.

Why aren’t the triumphant revenge fantasies “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood and the Dixie Chicks’ “Goodbye Earl” on this list? If taking a baseball bat to your man’s car or stuffing him into the trunk before offing him doesn’t count as an official breakup, we don’t know what does.

If you’re not particularly in the mood for love this V-Day weekend, check out which bitter-tongued or broken-hearted melodies they picked for numbers 6-10 over at The Boot.
