The Morning Mix: Britney And Her Man Share A Romantic Happy Meal

How’d you folks spend your Valentine’s Day? Did you spend thousands upon thousands of dollars hiring a jet to write your significant other’s name into the sky? Or did you treat your lover to the dollar menu while at the McDonalds drive-thru like Britney Spears’ agent boyfriend? Both are so very romantic in their own ways, no? Ah, l’amour.

Did You Hear?

:: Nick Cannon fondly remembers his and Mariah Carey’s first Valentine’s Day, when the couple almost set their hotel room on fire. (And we don’t mean metaphorically. We’re talking real fire.) [MTV]

:: Ciara and her abs provided the entertainment at the ARISE magazine runway show after-party this weekend at New York Fashion Week. [Rap-Up]

:: Everyone seems to think Rihanna ripped off someone with “Rude Boy”, but who? Solange thinks RiRi copied her “I Decided” video, while Diplo thinks Rihanna lifted from M.I.A.’s “Boyz” (and created a remix to underscore the point). [The Boombox]

:: Blender counts down the 14 Worst Onstage Meltdowns, featuring John Mayer, his “sexual napalm” and “sexual napalm”‘s younger sister. [Blender]

:: Some people can’t accept that Drake has left behind the role of “Wheelchair Jimmy” on Degrassi and turned himself into one of the hottest rappers in the game. [Dealbreaker]

After the jump: a look back at Robert Palmer and his long-legged, ruby-lipped, vacant-eyed valentines from his music videos.

VIDEO REWIND OF THE DAY:
We can’t let Valentine’s Day go by quite yet — at least not until we post Robert Palmer’s iconic “Addicted to Love” video. The 1986 vid, featuring Palmer singing in front of a backup band of expressionless, speechless, swaying ladies, has landed on a few Sexiest Music Videos of All Time lists, but we think it has to be one of the funniest. None of Palmer’s models know how to play any of the instruments in their hands—heck, they’re not even that good at faking it. Not like it mattered, though—the public swooned over the models, and they kept popping up in later Palmer videos, including  “Simply Irresistable” and “I Didn’t Mean To Turn You On” — and in animated form in “Change His Ways”). By then they could manage some (minimal) choreography, but their rhythm didn’t improve much.

Have a great day!
