Alex Gardner Is Seeing Double In His “I’m Not Mad” Video

Budding pop star Alex Gardner jetted over from London to Los Angeles recently to shoot the music video for “I’m Not Mad,” his debut single. “It was a big deal for me because my entire life I’ve never been out of Europe or anywhere,” Gardner told the BBC. “There are some great visuals to it.” And those visuals basically involve the 18-year-old Scotsman writhing around and working out some teenage heartache in a mirrored room.

Hey, it’s recession-era video-making, folks—but Alex pulls the whole off with aplomb. Catch the video after the jump!

“It’s me basically in this mirrors box room. The floors, the walls—everything is mirrors,” the Xenomania protege explained to the BBC. “It’s basically a metaphor for being stuck with things that you can’t really do anything about”

One of the things Gardner got stuck with this week was attending the Brit Awards, where the singer—whose album is due out later this year—got to rub elbows with a few of the night’s big winners.

“Had a great night at the Brits last night, was hanging out with Florence, Pixie Lott, Dizzee Rascal, Mika, & Lady GaGa!” he tweeted afterward.
