The Black Eyed Peas End Ke$ha’s Drunken Reign Of Terror On The Hot 100

Poor Ke$ha. She was just one week shy of of tying Debby Boone’s record for having the longest stay (10 weeks) atop the Billboard Hot 100 with a debut single by a female artist. Alas, after nine weeks, “TiK ToK” gets bumped from #1 by the Black Eyed Peas’ “Imma Be” like a sloppy drunk being tossed into the gutter after downing too many cheap cosmos during Happy Hour. Hiccup!

This marks the third #1 single for the Peas, and, incidentally, the third chart-topper released off their The E.N.D. album. In 2009 the Grammy-winning quartet spent a grand total of 26 weeks atop the Hot 100 between their two singles “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.” The third offering from the LP—and the best of the bunch, in our humble opinion—”Meet Me Halfway,” peaked at #7 on the chart.

Meanwhile, Ke$ha hovers just outside the Top 10 (at #11) for a second week with new single “Blah Blah Blah.” And now that the man-trashin’ bowling-alley bonanza that is the tune’s music video has been unleashed, we can probably expect the untamed blonde to rise up again and at least give the Black Eyed Peas a groggy stumble for their money.
