Did You Hear?

:: Canada still matters a little even though we’ve reached the end of the Olympics—the Juno nominations are out, and Drake, Justin Bieber, Metric and adorable jingle-slave Michael Bublé are all up for awards. (Sorry, Nickelback. You’ve got another year to reclaim your honor from pickled vegetables.) [Spinner]

:: Jessica Simpson is “disappointed” in John Mayer’s comments about their relationship he made to Playboy. Well, he’s probably disappointed in her faux country makeover, so let’s call it even. [Pop Eater]

:: Kanye West and Soulja Boy are collaborating on West’s upcoming album. Kanye should really be collaborating with a new website designer. [The Boombox]

:: Rihanna’s hair needs a volumizer—it looks like she’s taking styling tips from Justin Bieber’s swagger coach. [Just Jared]

:: A look back at Britney Spears’ debut album …Baby One More Time as seen through the eyes (or ears?) of a rock fan. [MTV

After the jump: we see “The Sign” in Gaga’s upcoming single.

VIDEO REWIND OF THE DAY: Word on the street is that Lady Gaga’s third single from The Fame Monster will be “Alejandro”, a Euro-synth track about love-that-cannot-be that takes us back to the mid-90s reign of Ace of Base. The modern ABBA-inspired quartet of Swedes’ biggest hit on the charts, “The Sign,” peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1994. (Though Backtracking thinks their followup album The Bridge contained some real gems too.)

We would love for Gaga to carefully eye “The Sign”‘s heavily green-screened, color-shifting video when looking for inspiration for the “Alejandaro” vid, and if the rumors are true, bring on Little Britain‘s David Walliams as the vid’s love interest. Casting the British comedian alone would make it Gaga’s oddest video yet, if that’s even possible.

Have a great day!
