Ke$ha’s Performance on ‘SNL’ Notable For Futuristic Fashion, At Least Some Live Singing

Ke$ha kicked off her visit to Saturday Night Live with an acapella intro to “TiK ToK”, which was so unexpected it briefly shifted our attention from her bizarre black metallic outfit (complete with a cape fashioned from an American flag, which probably hasn’t been used in association with such trashy pop music since this.) The live intro, of course, was just the lead-in to a strange, spacy performance featuring heavy use of pre-recorded backing vocal tracks, lasers and a band full of astronauts. Watch “TiK ToK” and “Your Love Is My Drug” below, and find out why Ke$ha is being accused of jacking Sia’s style, in addition to Uffie’s.

“Did anyone ever stop to think, maybe we are the aliens?” Nope, Ke$h, just you. Just you.And here’s Ke$ha’s performance of her new single, “Your Love Is My Drug”. As Gawker noted, Ke$ha’s day-glo body paint motif feels a little bit like a rip-off of Idolator favorite Sia’s performance of “Buttons” on Later… With Jools Holland two years ago. (Watch the original here and decide for yourself after seeing Ke$ha’s below) Then again, Sia didn’t seem to mind. Remember, Ke$ha’s has been going for the tribal look herself lately.
