JLS Perform “Everybody In Love”, “If I Ever Fall In Love” Acapella For Idolator

We, along with the rest of the civilized world, have had our eye on British pop group JLS since they finished second on the 2008 season of Simon Cowell’s The X Factor. And we’re all about to get a much closer look — after topping the UK charts with two blazing #1 singles, the quartet (Aston Merrygold, Jonathan “JB” Gill, Oritse Williams and Marvin Humes) is readying for a full-scale invasion of the U.S. Last week, the guys took time away from their hectic recording schedule to visit us, share a few details about their second album and pretty much turn us into pudding with two acapella performances. Watch below:

It’s not every day we have the privilege of welcoming Brit Award-winning artists to our Hollywood office, but we did our best to play host for Aston, JB, Oritse and Marvin, not least because they’ve attracted some serious fans. Coachella headliner Jay-Z told reporters at the Brits that JLS “put on a class performance and I think they will go on to be as big as ‘N Sync.”.

Who are we to argue? We’ve officially hopped on the bandwagon for their upcoming second album, which the group is recording in Los Angeles with Wayne Wilkins, Andre Merritt, Lindy Robbins and other top writers and producers. One major issue: thinking about how the new songs will translate live, since the group tends toward over-the-top performances. When it comes to songwriting, “every little bit means something to us in the show,” Aston told us.

JLS treated us to two airtight performances. First, they hit us with “Everybody In Love”, the big J.R. Rotem-produced single from their debut — enjoy this, because the next time you hear it live, the guys will be partially drowned out by thousands of screaming, jelly-kneed fans. Then, the guys very, VERY graciously agreed to our request to hear their cover of Shai’s “If I Ever Fall In Love”, the song they performed on their audition for The X Factor.

You can see why we’re so excited for their album. Now pardon us while we go try to regain our composure. (The guys, meanwhile, will continue about their merry way, greeting fans from outside our office).
