The cover art for Cyndi Lauper’s upcoming album Memphis Blues has been revealed, and shows that the current Celebrity Apprentice contestant is indeed in the mood for some downhearted (if not sultry) Deep South tunes. And while we’re all for lady Lauper singing the blues—especially when the album contains guests like BB King and Jonny Lang—we’ll readily admit we wish she’d also serve up a little upbeat pop on the side, a la her 2008 album Bring Ya To The Brink. Have a look at the full cover of Cyndi’s new album after the jump.

Memphis Blues has a release date of June 22—which also happens to be the day Lady Gaga’s Viva Glam campaign partner Cyndi turns 57! The album of covers, which in addition to BB King and Jonny Lang also features guests such as Charlie Musselwhite and Allen Toussaint, will be released via Downtown Records.

But if you’re she-bopping for some new Cyndi music before that, make sure you check out David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s concept album Here Lies Love, which features the Lauper/Tori Amos duet “Why Don’t You Love Me?”
