Justin Timberlake has been featured on so many tracks in the past year, it’s almost like he’s gifted us with a new album. (We can dream, anyway?) Well, let’s throw another track on the stack — Game brought Timberlake and Pharrell out for the funky “Ain’t No Doubt About It”, the first single from his loooong-awaited The R.E.D. Album. It’s a little bit “Like I Love You”, but with early Neptunes production — all that it seems to be missing is Game. Timberlake opens the summer-fresh track (produced by Pharrell) with his smooth falsetto, and Game eventually dives in with an unusually relaxed verse — and he sounds, dare we say, lightweight rhyming over Pharrell’s Super Mario-style beat.
As usual, Game is releasing a single thinking he’s scored huge points. The Compton rapper’s expectations of the song skyrocketed once Timberlake got on board. “The vibe changed and it went to where I could see Grammy Awards,” he told Rap-Up back in December. “I never thought in my life that I would ever work with Justin, and then for it to turn out and be as catastrophic as it was was amazing.”
So, hate it or love it — does Game’s lighter pop style work for you? Or are you more into the horn-blasting hip-hop heard in his other new joint, “Shake”?
