Lilith Fair performer Sara Bareilles has thankfully jettisoned penning odes to Jersey Shore and is back to straight forward pop. Her new single “King Of Anything” is an upbeat piano-and-handclaps tune that should go a long way to ending the one-hit status currently plaguing the California singer-songwriter. Listen to the joyous kiss-off tune after the jump.

“I’m beyond excited to share the first taste of the new record. I’ve been in the studio for the past 7 months or so, working hard on the next batch of songs. It has shaped up to be something I’m so incredibly proud of. The album is called Kaleidoscope Heart, and will be available late this summer!”

“King Of Anything” is produced by Neal Avron. A press release for the tune quotes Bareilles explaining, “I’ve had more unsolicited advice on my life than I care to mention, and this was how I dealt with it. It felt empowering to turn that frustration into music, especially a song that doesn’t even sound angry.”

Do you think Sara’s got a “Love Song”-sized hit on her hands?
