Watch Adam Lambert And Ke$ha’s KISS 108 Boston Performances

May 24th, 2010 // 20 Comments

Boston’s KISS 108 Concert 2010 featured artists on the roster who pulled double duty this weekend by also performing at UK festival Radio 1′s Big Weekend (mainly Ke$ha and Jason Derulo). Other acts on the lineup included Adam Lambert (who’s no stranger to the festival circuit at this point), Orianthi, Kevin Rudolph, Emily Osmet and—brace yourselves, children of the ’90s—Bell Biv Devoe. Head below to watch Ke$ha’s performances, plus Adam rocking out “Whataya Want From Me,” “Music Again,” “Sleepwalker” and “If I Had You.”

As Boston Herald blog The Edge noted, “Lambert imbued the venue with his dark mystique, sporting a Mohawk, full makeup and all-black attire. Maybe dropping the f-bomb to introduce his new single ‘If I Had You’ wasn’t the best move, but the rest of his set made up for it.”

Actually, what Adam said when introducing the song was this: “You know what this is about? No matter what your religion is, this color of your skin, what your sexuality is or how old you are, we can all fucking party together.”

See? It was an f-bomb with a positive message. So that doesn’t really count as a swear, right?

LOL!! I was there. There were a lot of very little kids there so maybe not the best idea but as The Boston Herald said Adam owned the night. The crowd gave him the biggest response and his vocals were spot on. The set up for the Comcast Center is an outdoor amphitheater. If you are standing on stage and looking up when its full it’s quite impressive. The Staples center is all tiers but this is kind of like a big bowl so putting 20k people in it is really something to see. I would say it was 95% girls. Of which about 85% were between the ages of 13 to 19. As the Boston Herald reported and I agree Adam got the loudest cheers and by far the best introduction by Matty. Kesha was the 2nd most popular but pretty darn close to Adam. You could tell the younger fans had no clue to who Bell Bib Devoe was. DeRulo got a good response and Orianthi did in the beginning. She sang her new single. My big complaint was you weren’t allowed to bring anything in but they charged $4 for a little bottle of water. They served these frozen margarita’s in a big tall plastic glass that looked really pretty but were super sweet for $14 each. The weather was perfect! Couldn’t ask for a better day. They had 18 bands. They should have got rid of half of them and let the ones I mentioned above sing longer.

    • Thanks for the eyewitness account, LC. Did Adam happen to do any other songs other than those four? And more importantly, did *you* know who Bel Biv Devoe were when they came on stage?

i think K$’s live on BBC is far better than this one!
esp She sings Dirty Picture with Taio

  3. I agree, half of the performers weren’t worth sitting thru and could have been cut. They generated little excitement and were ho hum. Personally I was there solely to see Adam Lambert and was not disappointed. That young man can generate excitement and heat just hearing his name let alone his vocals! Didn’t even hear the descriptive f word and I’m pretty sure most of the younger crowd have heard more and worse language on the school bus or grounds. I must say that Kesha looked like something the cat dragged in and the quality of her and her dancers performance is sub par and non professional… don’t get her popularity at all. Musically the songs are boring and repetitive and the words trite. Couldn’t wait for her to end and the same for some of the other female performers. Or

If you had listened to what ADAM said right after SLEEPWALKER & just before IIHY you would have heard him say he needed to change his mood … apparently SLEEPWALKER has a deep meaning fpr him ‘cos he also said ‘breaking up is hard’ & it left him a little ‘po’d’ …. so that may be why he spoke a little harshly when he introduced IIHY. ALSO … all the BS that he has been dealing with … your fans are too aggressive … you’re too flamboyant … FYE single not being played on the radio … constantly criticized for everything he does … too much this … not enough that … fans are old ladies, yada, yada, yada, yeah! ADAM wants EVERYBODY to come together in SPITE of their DIFFERENCES … not SEPARATE because of them. I think he put just the right EMPHASIS on his feelings …. GOOD FOR HIM!! AND he blew everyone out of the building with his PHENOMENAL VOCALS & SHOWMANSHIP!!! ..JMHO

Adam did 5 songs. Adam did Whataya Want From Me. You can’t tell by any of the videos but everyone sang along with him. He did Strut, Sleepwalker, If I Had You and Music Again. He was great with Strut. He was sweating big time because it was a hot night. I loved sleepwalker too that’s one of my favorites live. I knew the name Bell Bib Devoe and I recognized the music but if you had asked me before hand to name a song of theirs I couldn’t have. When I bought the tickets there were only 9 acts scheduled (including Adam). When I checked again Friday it was 17 then as a “surprise” they added Bell. I loved Adam’s laced up pants – he looked great.
I will admit I went a little bit fan girl when Adam came on and security did look at me LOL!! I had a margarita in my hand too. They were probably trying to figure out how many I had. There was one point where Adam had looked up and out over the audience and he looked a little awed. Boston gave Adam a King’s welcome. He owns New England I think. Based on the t-shirts, signs and face paintings with Adam’s name on them he owned the crowd!!

The Boston Globe also said Adam ruled the night. Course, the reviewer had to be all high and mighty and throw a little criticism in there too, contractually obligated to do so I think, lol, but the underlying theme was that Adam Lambert owned the night. But nobody really needs, needed, a reviewer to tell them that, it was palpable.

  9. BB

Ke$ha’s ‘Blah, blah, blah’ has the ‘B’ word in it. I don’t understand the problem? The ‘F’ word is in the dictionary and is part of the English language. In my opinion, the way he used it is entirely different than telling someone to ‘F’ off. That’s my take anyway.

I have to agree with @terie. Adam is constantly under scrutiny for what he does and doesn’t do. Can’t people just enjoy the music and stop reading so much into everything?! He’s a fantastic performer with a great sense of humour.

Adam looked and sounded great. I’m not really into any of the other artists who performed at the Kiss108 concert so I won’t make any comments about them. I am looking forward to Adam’s appearance at the Wham Bam concert in Toronto!

In my opinion, the “f…” word was perfectly acceptable in that context. The message was a positive one. As long as Kesha can get away with “a bottle of Jack” I see no harm at all in what Adam said.

  11. alli

First of all the lyrics to BBB by Kesha are FAR more negative than one f bomb of Adam Lambert. That being said she was fantastic on that song. I never liked her before but she is finally focused on her vocal and I love seeing her play. HER DANCERS ARE AWESOME. LOVE THE NERDS. LOVE ADAM, TOO.

  12. alli

Not only does it have the B word but has the D word, too after she smacks the guys butts then later she says “that’s no way to get laid” ….so the stage was set for all the mommys lol. As IF their little angels don’t cuss? Please. Go read Twitter at the pre teens language and sexual content.
