Justin Bieber And Soulja Boy Are On The Hunt For A “Rich Girl”

Once upon a time, Soulja Boy Tell’em was the hottest teen artist in the country, riding his song “Crank That” all the way to #1 on the Hot 100 and earning the right to teach Natalie Portman how to dance on national television. But time flies — and there’s (very obviously) a new barely pubescent sheriff in town. The Chicago-born rapper enlisted young gun Justin Bieber as the featured vocalist on “Rich Girl”, the bouncy new track from Soulja Boy’s upcoming third album Dre — which is scheduled for release on Soulja Boy’s (shudder) 20th birthday. Hear two teen sensations collide below.

Justin Bieber – Rich Girl” dl=”0″] As blah as the track’s lyrics are (“Man, she look good when she shopping, she look good when she talking and she walking” isn’t exactly a sophisticated rhyme scheme), the light and summery beat is catchy, and the track sounds vaguely inspired by Hall and Oates’ “Rich Girl” during the chorus.

Bieber pretty much owns this track with his smooth delivery (his vocals still not yet disturbed by puberty, or at least covered up with a healthy dose of Auto-Tune), while Soulja Boy’s verses just come off as lazy. We do, however, still think it sounds pretty odd hearing Justin Bieber namecheck himself on the track like he’s already a hip-hop star that needs to mark his territory.

Here’s Soulja Boy discussing his Bieb collab with Billboard — turns out the whole song came to be thanks to a fateful iChat conversation.

“He reminds me of me,” Soulja says. Um, we don’t really see the resemblance, what about YOOOOOOOOOOUUUUU?
