Is there a place left on Earth that Janelle Monae hasn’t tightroped across? Our favorite “woman on a wire” appeared last night on Lopez Tonight, and once again she brought her funked-up A game. Dressed in her signature tux and saddle shoes, The ArchAndroid herself rocked the LT studio stage.

Speaking of studios, we came across some footage of Janelle and her Wondaland crew messing around in Of Montreal’s studios with a variation of “Smoke On The Water”. Of Montreal’s lead singer Kevin Barnes (who collaborated with Janelle on “Make The Bus”) dances in the studio while his wife, Nina, tapes the entire jam session. Catch both a double dose of Janelle below.

We love in the middle of this video when Janelle starts singing about Kevin and Nina’s little daughter Alabee: “Where is Alabee? I need a little Alabee.” We’d like to think that Janelle and Of Montreal had this much fun while recording “Make The Bus”.
