Jay-Z And Swizz Beatz Phone It In On New Track “Ultra”

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ fiance/babydaddy Swizz Beatz teamed up for a recently surfaced track called “Ultra”, which comes off of Evil Empire’s Trending Topics 4 mixtape. (Evil Empire previously released Jay and Drake’s “Light Up” last week.) The (tagged) reference track is said to have a home on Diddy’s upcoming Last Train to Paris, but this version has Jay covering for Diddy’s verse for the time being. Jump below to hear Hova doing his best Diddy impression.

Swizz Beatz – Ultra” dl=”0″] No real new territory unearthed here—it’s a pretty standard, unexciting track with simple beats in the background, lacking any of the energy or spark found in the duo’s last pair-up on Jay’s “On To The Next One.” The second verse actually seems written for Diddy to rap on, though Jay takes on vocals for now: “I’m ultra hot/ Mixing the pineapple with coconut Ciroc,” raps Jay, name-dropping Diddy’s brand of vodka. He then goes on to mention “white parties” (another annual Diddy staple), “last train to paris” (as aforementioned, the title of his upcoming album) and “me and Hov” (which is just a weird thing to say since Hov is the one speaking). We’ll just have to wait to see what Diddy does with the tune when he records his part himself, unless this is just a throwaway track that will never see the light of day outside this mixtape. (Honestly, we wouldn’t be too disappointed if that were the case.) [Rap-Up]
