Shakira, Alicia Keys And The Black Eyed Peas Help Kick Off The World Cup

Jun 10th, 2010 // 3 Comments

It’s definitely party time in Johannesburg today—larger-than-life music acts from across the globe helped get soccer and music fans riled up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-Off event in South Africa. Shakira shook her hips (‘natch), a very pregnant Alicia Keys got everybody’s hands waving in the air, and the Black Eyed Peas flew their crazy zebra background dancers into the country for a medley of their hits. Whether or not you’ll be watching the World Cup, you have to admit the unbridled enthusiasm of the ginourmous crowd and the excitement of the performances makes this event not to be missed, even if you’re just viewing it on the web.

Shakira – “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” (Live)

Alicia Keys – “No One” (Live)

Black Eyed Peas – medley of “Pump It”, “Meet Me Halfway”, “I Gotta Feeling”, and “Boom Boom Boom” (Live)

  1. Shakira never ceases to amaze me that song just puts you in a good mood the video is very bright and happy I just love everything about this single and she performed it great.

That caption above the A. Keys performance should say “Medley”. For the longest now Ive been let down from both her new material and her live performances and then comes along this, I loved that clearly she had me in mind and stepped up her game! I kiid I kiid but that was pretty good thats what I expect in her, yes!

Even BEP has me impressed and as much as I like their music Ive generally found it hard to watch them perform live but they really brung their A game for this.

Everyone was awesome for this event, hats off to them!

  2. I love your post thank you.

  3. I can’t believe what happened with USA today. That was totally neat!
