M.I.A., the self-described “retarded cousin of singing,” took a brief break from hating on everything from Lady Gaga to Google pose for a picturesque photo spread for FADER magazine. The new issues features an idyllic spread by Leonie Purchas, who captured a rarely seen softer side of Maya Arulpragasm as she relaxes in the shadows of a fairy tale-esque meadow. Could /\/\ /\ Y /\ be not as aggressive as the released tracks indicate it is? We’ll have to wait til her album is released in July to find out, but for now, let’s take in the perfectly pleasant M.I.A. in her secret garden. (And head on over to the FADER‘s website to download your own free PDF copy of the June/July issue.)
