Take Miranda Cosgrove’s face and Katy Perry’s penchant for color and wacky outfits, and mix it up with Gwen Stefani’s animated vocals and you’d get Marina and the Diamonds. The Welsh singer’s fourth single “Oh No!” is another wonderfully chirpy track from her debut album Family Jewels, and the video is inspired by fame, fortune and 90s cartoons. Watch below!

Marina and the Diamonds – “Oh No!”

Our Katy Perry comparison above is somewhat fitting, since “Oh No!”‘s director, Kinga Burza, also directed Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” back in the day. And we have to wonder if Katy is fuming mad she didn’t get to this dollar dress (featuring Barack Obama’s face?) before Marina did:

Much like Uffie’s recent “ADD SUV” vid (not to mention Kanye West’s “Good Life”, Christina Aguilera’s “Keeps Getting Better” and Kid Cudi’s “Day N Nite” before it, among others), you can see that cartoon text and comic book graphics are totally en vogue in today’s videos. We’re hoping somebody comes along and presents this style in a new way sooner than later, though, since it’s quickly becoming a trite, easy way to make your video pop.
