Of Montreal And Janelle Monae Tour Dates Released, America: Prepare Yourselves
Ever since we caught a glimpse of them noodling around in the studio, we’ve known that pop futurists Janella Monae and Of Montreal created a certain magic when performing together. (And there’s further proof on “Make The Bus”, the collabo from Janelle’s fabulous The ArchAndroid LP. We’re stoked to report they’re taking the next natural step — they’re creating a wide-ranging live “experience” (i.e. tour) together, and it promises to be a spectacle enjoyable for humans and androids alike. Details (plus Janelle’s latest live performance, from radio station KCRW), after the jump:
Of Montreal’s lead singer Kevin Barnes described the tour saying, “We’re going to marry the two shows together, in a way. It doesn’t feel like you go see a band, and there’s a pause, and there’s another pause, and then it’s over…[There will be] different levels of artistic stimulation that would go on throughout the whole night, so there’s never a moment where there’s house music or boring lighting.” Sounds intense. Check out Janelle Monae’s in-studio performance for KCRW, complete with the dancing faceless druids from her “Tightrope” music vid. Will they will be going on tour and joining Of Montreal’s dancing golden Buddhas? Hmmmm.
