Ciara Gives Us A Thumping Dance Track With “Gimme Dat”

Jul 7th, 2010 // 5 Comments

Just hours ago, Ciara flipped the script on Soulja Boy Tellem with her own version of his bouncy-but-boorish “Pretty Boy Swag”.  But she’s not done yet — the “Ride” singer’s own tune “Gimme Dat”, from her album Basic Instinct, has fallen into our virtual laps. And unlike this morning’s musical “treat”, we aren’t sarcastic when we say it’s fantastic. Listen below.

The “dat” in question is the bass, and this awesome dance track, produced by Tricky Stewart and Soundz, has plenty of it. It’s super fast-paced, full of energy, and despite the fact that Ciara doesn’t say anything meaningful at all in the song full of superficial “let’s go!”-type dancefloor declarations, who really cares? It has a great beat, isn’t filled to the brim with Auto-Tune like most dance tracks circulating today, and makes us want to go clubbing immediately. Can’t wait to see the vid!

What do you guys think of Ciara’s latest offering?

love tha song i keep playin it cant wait tha album i love ciara

  3. Ugh I’m not enjoying this too much its infinitely better than ‘Ride’ and basically anything else shes put out this year but it just doesn’t do it for me Ciara fell, and Ciara fell hard.

Ive said this before but its just time she gives it a rest shes really not doing much to break back into the fold this was decent, but decent at best. Maybe she should start working with that guy who worked on her first album again, Jazzy Fay? All this stuff is just mediocre and thats saying alot considering alot of the music out right now can be given the same title.

  4. I think this will be her best single since “Like A Boy” she has given the fans what we’ve been waiting for. This time around will definitely be better than the “Fantasy Ride” stint which was so sad cause that album was really good, just bad single choices…

but this song is great, although I thought “Get It Girl” would have been great too but this
I can see doing well on the charts.

  5. The law of gravity says no fair jumping up without coming back down.
