Sia Rides High With ‘Twilight: Eclipse’, Loses Lilith Fair Dates

On one hand, Idolator interviewee Sia can celebrate the fact that the Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, which contains her haunting ballad “My Love,” surged back up the Billboard Top 200 chart this week thanks to its parent movie being released last Wednesday. But on the flip side, the Aussie singer-songwriter has now seen three of her Lilith Fair dates axed due to slow ticket sales. Read her statement about the canceled gigs after the jump.

As mentioned last week, Lilith co-founder Terry McBride said, “We are in the midst of one of the most challenging summer concert seasons with many tours being canceled outright.” The fest pulled 10 of its scheduled stops, causing Kelly Clarkson to take herself off the roster altogether.

As it turns out, a few of those stops had Sia on the bill. Here’s a message that was posted on her official site yesterday:

“It is with regret that the festival organisers of the Lilith Tour in the US have cancelled 10 shows on the forthcoming tour, affecting three dates at which Sia was scheduled to appear. She will therefore no longer be performing at the cancelled Lilith Fair shows in West Palm Beach, Florida on 10th August, Birmingham, Alabama on 12th August and Dallas, Texas on 16th August.”

Oh, well. Have a cry, Sia fans, then go see Eclipse. Her song “My Love” plays atop Bella and Edward’s almost-sex scene.

Last week Sia’s album We Are Born debuted at #37 on the Billboard Top 200, marking the PETA supporter’s second Top 40 LP here in the States.
