Alex Winston’s Played All The “Choice Notes” On Her New EP Herself

Our favorite indie pop “Animal”, Alex Winston is back with her first official single “Choice Notes”. As we mentioned, our recent Popping Up artist is currently hard at work with producing duo The Knocks on her debut album. Check out the Detroit songbird’s toe-tapping little tune below as well as her five song EP The Basement Covers—appropriately titled, as Alex recorded the tracks in her home basement.

The song leads off with what sounds like a toy piano and gives way to Winston’s signature voice. Perhaps the line that best sums up “Choice Notes” is, “I sip it up I sip it up and spit it out/It sounds real nice.” We agree, Alex.

Now, listen and tell us what you think.

And for more choice notes, head over to HeavyRoc‘s site to nab her EP. We think it’s worth noting that each instrument on the five track compilation was played masterfully by Alex herself. On The Basement Covers, Winston interprets Mumford & Sons, Teddy Bears, The Rolling Stones, Jack Penate and Francis and the Lights. And if an MP3 isn’t enough to satisfy you, The Knocks are also offering up double A-side limited edition 7-inch of “Choice Notes” and her other single “Medicine”.
