Green Day Introduce Jimmy Fallon To The “Last Of The American Girls”
Green Day’s music has been all over New York this summer — the cast of their American Idiot musical recently ventured outside the theater to deliver a rousing performance on Good Morning America — but the Bay Area punks themselves had been somewhat absent. So it was nice to see them pop up on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where they rocked the jazz-hands-ready fifth single, from 21st Century Breakdown, “Last Of The American Girls”. As Green Day performances go, it’s kind of mellow — you’ll have to decide for yourself whether it stacks up to the Broadway cast recording. Having seen Green Day live oursevles, we’re fairly certain they’re just conserving their energy for Lollapalooza next weekend. (We would be too if we trying to stand out in a festival weekend that’s likely to center on Lady Gaga. Just sayin’).
