Lady Gaga Leads MTV VMA Nominations With 13 Total

The full list of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards hopefuls has been unveiled over at MTV Buzzworthy, and Lady Gaga has the most nominations with 13—a new record for amount one artist has earned in one year—including Best Collaboration for “Telephone,” Best Pop Video, Best Dance Music Video, Best Female Video and Best Choreography for “Bad Romance.” Both Eminem and Beyonce are up for eight awards, while Florence + The Machine and B.o.B scored five nominations each.

“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,” politically-minded Gaga said in a statement published by People.

She continued, “Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13. A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!”
