Katy Perry Crashes An Australian Prom With The “Single Ladies” Dance

Katy Perry crashed a prom in Melbourne, Australia while she was Down Undah promoting Teenage Dream, and apparently the newly bob’d pop star’s 15-minute cameo at the school dance was big enough to make the nightly news. We don’t know what’s funnier: Katy attempting to do the “Single Ladies” dance in front of 500 screaming students, or the post-Perry interviews with two shocked teenagers and one seriously snarky teacher. Watch below!

“First I’m thinking, who is this silly girl who’s gotten in?” said one of the teachers from the Melbourne school visited by Perry. “I think, ‘Oh, that’s kind of nice, they’re letting her join in.’ Then I go into teacher’s mode and think, ‘Alright, who is this idiot?'”

Added one student who seemed both delighted and bitter at Katy’s impromptu appearance, “She said she’s never been to a prom before, and because she’s Katy Perry, she just got in. Just like that.”

We’re slightly disappointed that Perry didn’t perform any one of her new songs at the Aussie prom, but we’re even more upset that she didn’t help launch a fully choreographed She’s All That-style dance routine. Not like the movies, indeed.
