Ben Folds And Pomplamoose Try Making Sense Of The Things Nick Hornby Thinks

Ben Folds is back with another Internet gem, and this time the ChatRoulette enthusiast has teamed up with playful indie-jazz combo Pomplamoose on an ode to Nick Hornby’s thoughts. The endearing “Things That You Think” ambles up to a chorus with an almost Dr. Seuss-style vibe. (“You smoke your little smoke/And drink your little drink/And try to make sense of the things that you think”). The High Fidelity author’s thoughts include: why he’s not Charles Dickens, the vast amount of books published per year and the number of stars in the universe—heavy stuff! Jump below to see if you can make sense of Nick’s thoughts.

The concept of this song reminds us of Ben’s collaboration with William Shatner on “In Love” from his experimental album Fear Of Pop, mixed in with a touch of the ’90s hit “Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen”.

This thought provoking little ditty is available now on iTunes, but for the Hornby/Folds collab album Lonely Avenue, you’ll have to wait till September 28th. Got some thoughts of your own? Let ’em rip below.
