Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s 9-year old daughter and budding fashion icon, Willow Smith (she’s the sassy one in the Brit pants), is trying her hand at pop music. And we can’t believe we’re writing this without a “J/K!” afterward, but her first attempt—the hip-pop club track “Whip My Hair”—is not terrible. It’s maybe a step below Lil Mama and several steps above anything Heidi Montag has vomited out of the studio. Listen to it below and be as shocked as we are.

Willow Smith – “Whip My Hair”

Word is that lil Miss Thang here is going to be signed to Roc Nation. Is anyone surprised in the least? Here’s a list of why Willow Smith becoming a global pop phenom is not only a possibility, but an inevitability:

1 – She’s 9-years old, and every label (and even American Idol) is on the lookout for the next tween star. At 12 and 16, Greyson Chance and Justin Bieber might as well star in the 2010 remake of Grumpy Old Men. Pre-pre puberty is where it’s at!

2 – She’s Will Smith’s daughter. Not only does her dad have an ear for music—we wouldn’t be surprised if he was calling the shots in the studio the entire time—the man’s kids have an “in” just by being born. Jaden Smith is now a star in his own right thanks to The Karate Kid remake, and now when he gets his sequel, his sister can add a song on the soundtrack. The whole Smith family is one giant example of vertical integration.

3 – Girl is fierce with a capital FIERCE. We don’t think even Rihanna could have pulled off this look at 9-year old:
