2010 MTV VMA Predictions: Who Will Win Best Male Video?

After shining a light on the ladies nominated in the Best Female Video category for this year’s MTV VMAs, we’re now shifting our focus to the men. The awards ceremony airs this Sunday at 9 p.m., and director Anthony Mandler was behind the lens for two of the lucky gents (Usher and Drake) singled out for Best Male Video. But do either of them stand a chance against the fearless Eminem? Let’s get to who we think will win and should win below!

BEST MALE VIDEO NOMINEES B.o.B feat. Hayley Williams — “Airplanes” Drake — “Find Your Love” Eminem — “Not Afraid” Jason Derulo — “In My Head” Usher feat. will.i.am — “OMG”

THOUGHTS ON THE NOMINEES: First of all, after B.o.B’s revelation on Chelsea Lately the other night that he’s never even spoken to Hayley Williams, we say boo to their ever-present summer jam “Airplanes” getting any kind of award. Oh, okay—that was way harsh, Tai. Still, you’d think one of them might have picked up the phone and called the other at least once, no? At any rate, the “Airplanes” vid wasn’t really anything to get up in arms over, so we’re guessing MTV will take a pass on this one winning.

Ditto for Derulo’s “In My Head” and Drake’s “Find Your Love.” The newbies should just be happy for a nomination.

WHO WILL WIN: Everyone loves a comeback, and both Usher and Eminem staged their own this year. But while it’s a tough call, we’re going with Eminem’s “Not Afraid.” Sure, Usher’s “OMG” spent an impressive four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 this past spring, has been virtually ruling the airwaves ever since and boasts a sleek music video. But 2010 just feels like Em’s year, and he’s tearin’ down the balcony these other four are perched on.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Eminem for “Not Afraid.” There’s a reason Billboard dubbed him the top artist of the last decade. And so far he’s doing a great job at staking a claim on this new one, too—he and Beyonce are tied with being up for eight moon men. Plus, out of these five nominees, “Not Afraid” just feels like the only “event” record listed.

Now it’s your turn…
