The Judges Of U.S. ‘X Factor’: Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole & Nicole Scherzinger?

While the big news today was that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler were officially announced as the new judges on the upcoming 10th season of American Idol (gosh, we’re so shocked—no, really), a report has surfaced on the site of Sacramento’s Fox affiliate station stating that Simon Cowell will be joined by fellow UK X Factor judge Cheryl Cole when the program launches in the U.S. next year.

Fox 40 Sacramento picked up on a Daily Mail story from last week that states 27-year-old Cole—who is currently on hiatus from pop group Girls Aloud—”will quit the British X Factor to be a judge on the new version of the television talent hit which will debut in the States next year.”

The Mail goes on to state the following:

“Cowell has also lined up Pussycat doll singer Nicole Scherzinger to join him and Mrs Cole on the American X Factor after being left impressed by the brunette during her stint on the X Factor auditions.

Dancing With The Stars champ Scherzinger filled in on The X Factor during the contestant auditions process when judge Dannii Minogue was out on pregnancy leave and Cheryl Cole had contracted malaria. (And let’s not forget the six-degress-of-separation situation where Cole is rumored to be romancing Nicole’s former DWTS dance partner Derek Hough.)

At any rate, none of these supposed American X Factor signings have been confirmed by Cowell himself, who is the show’s creator. But then, look how dead-on the speculation proved to be with the American Idol judges.

Why don’t we all just clear our heads in the meantime, sit back and watch Cheryl’s video for new UK single “Promise This”?
