Far East Movement Chill Out With New Single “Rocketeer”

Over the weekend, Far East Movement premiered their new single “Rocketeer” on Cherrytree Radio. The track features Ryan Tedder on piano (in August we posted an exclusive pic of Tedder tickling the ivories on the set of the video) and was co-written by chart-topper/Idolator bowling partner Bruno Mars. Listen to FM switch things up with their dreamy new jam below.

We’re digging Far East Movement’s shift toward live(-sounding) instrumentation as a counterweight to their current Top 10 electro hit “Like A G6.” It will definitely be interesting to see how fans of that one react to the more contemplative nature of “Rocketeer.” (Though we’re guessing that, with all those hit-makers involved, the song might find itself nestled in the upper reaches of the Hot 100 just like its predecessor.)

It’s kind of like the chill, bleary-eyed comedown the day after a big bash, when you just want to lay around and listen to some mellow tunes.

See that? Far East Movement—they’re like a party favor and a hangover cure all rolled into one.

  1. Gotta say, I’m open to new stuff, but this reminds me of Jamie Foxx’s cameo on Kanye’s “Golddigger.” That is, Ryan Tedder’s contribution to this song is fantastic and infectious. The rest, not so much.

I’m finding more & more that most successfull Hip-Hop songs are much more the result of seriously talented sound engineers & producers than artists with much real chops.
