Take That’s New Single “The Flood” Overflows With Robbie Williams

“The Flood,” the first Take That single in 15 years to feature Robbie Williams on vocals, premiered today on BBC Radio 1. Produced by Stuart Price (The Killers, Madonna, Kylie Minogue), the track finds Gary Barlow and Williams taking turns singing lead on the shimmery, uplifting tune. And, yes—it’s even got a beat! You have to hand it to the lads—they sure know how to lift your spirits with a soaring chorus and a generous helping of positive lyrics.

“We were holding back the flood, they said we’d never dance again,” the quintet sings on the chorus, giving a wink to the fact that Robbie Williams is back in the fold after a heated departure from Take That in 1995.

The British band’s sixth album Progress is due out in the UK on November 22, while “The Flood” will be released the week prior. In the meantime, Robbie and Gary’s duet “Shame” was released in their home country this week, ahead of Williams’ In And Out Of Consciousness — The Greatest Hits 1990 – 2010. (That one’s getting a U.S. release next week, on October 12.)
