Pet Shop Boys’ Bouncy Single “Together” Highlights ‘Ultimate’ Greatest Hits

November will mark 25 years (!) since Pet Shop Boys’ debut single “West End Girls” topped the UK chart, and to commemorate the occasion the duo will see the release of their third greatest hits collection Ultimate. A brand new song called “Together” will be included among 18 other PSB classics on the set. Listen to a short clip of the electro-pop jam below. The Boys enlisted British production house Xenomania to help craft their Grammy-nominated 2009 album Yes. Onetime member of the team Tim Powell produced duo’s new song “Together.”

We really can’t judge “Together” based on such a short segment of the song. But let’s just say we’ll be scouring the Internet feverishly till the whole things surfaces!

There had been some speculation online that, despite the song’s soaring chorus and upbeat title, this could possibly be the final pop offering from Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe.

However, the enduring synth stalwarts put the rumor to rest over the weekend when a fan asked them on Twitter if they were splitting up. “We never comment on untrue rumors,” they replied.

Ultimate is due out in the UK on November 2 (and in the U.S. at some point in early 2011). “Together” will be released as a single on November 29th with covers of The Dave Clark Five’s “Glad All Over” and Kate McGarrigle’s “I Cried For Us” serving as B-sides. (McGarrigle, the mother of Rufus Wainwright, died in January.)
