Kelly Rowland Says Good Riddance With “Forever Is Just A Minute Away”

Oct 11th, 2010 // 8 Comments

Though Kelly Rowland has yet to reveal her upcoming album title (rumored to debut in the UK on November 29th), her new track “Forever Is Just A Minute Away” has surfaced. Hear the former child of Destiny—turned commander of the dance floor— attempt to speed up the hands of time, to end a good relationship gone bad after the jump.

We know what you’re thinking, “I already heard a song from Kelly Rowland’s new album with ‘forever’ in the title.” Yes, but as you can hear “Forever And A Day” and “Forever Is Just A Minute Away” could not be more different: both musically and lyrically.

“Forever And A Day” talks of infatuation, and forever equals “how long I’ll be loving you”.In “Forever Is Just A Minute A Way”—a far departure from the Euro club sound of “F.A.A.D”—the “Rose Colored Glasses” songbird sings that the, “hour glass is running low”. The time with her man is just about up and the end just can’t come fast enough. In the track produced by Jim Jonsin (Kid Cudi’s “Erase Me”), we’re really digging the lyric:

“You seem to always know what’s right for me/But now the therapist needs therapy”

Though no track list has been released yet for her third studio album, we wonder if “Forever And A Day” and “Forever Is Just A Minute A Way” will bookend the album. Perhaps Kelly is weaving the songs into a tapestry of a relationship from beginning to end—or maybe it’s just a coincidence.

Tell us what you think of K.Rowl’s new song below.

I for one who is a kelly stan 4 life (peep the name and gavatar pic) have to say that i love all of ms kellys music ranging from her very first solo outing “separated” all the way up to “F.A.A.D” and i love all sides of this truly versatile and immensly talented ARTIST. Painting picturs with her beautiful words it just amazes me how underated she is – she can sing ANYTHING! i for one lllooved simply deep and still bump it to this day – how smooth and rich that album was and still is just proves who she is as a person – i love listening to her different tracks because they remind me of her older music – just like “this is love” “rose colored glasses” which has simply deep written all over it! from simply deep (pop/rock, jazz – rnb) to ms kelly (classic rnb/soul with a lil pop…work) to her 3rd set (dance/pop rhb soul) she can sing anything and i fel honored to be treated to such a timelss artist with the voice of gold – her music feels so free jam packed with emotion – quality over quantity and she got it just right. im def getting both versions of the album and will ride with her to the end. WORKKKKK!!!!

PS – THE SONG IS GLEEFUL SORROW – FIGURE IT OUT 4/5 STARS
