Hurts’ “Stay” Video Is Full Of Beauty And Gloom

Hurts are following up their UK hit “Wonderful Life” with the ballad “Stay,” the video for which finds the duo brooding on a gray beach while beautiful blonde dancers in green flowing dresses twirl around them. It’s a very “on a budget” affair, but a scenic one that somehow manages to appear both pleasant and dreary at the same time. Watch below.

If Pet Shop Boys have taught us anything, it’s that angsty British synthpop duos who craft hook-laden ear candy about heartache register with the record buying public. Bravo, lads!

Hurts—aka Mancunians Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson—have been on a roll ever since the BBC labeled the duo one of its Sounds Of 2010. Their debut album Happiness debuted in the UK Top 5 last month, and Kylie Minogue—who duets with the pair on their track “Devotion”performed a cover of their single “Wonderful Life” for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge two weeks ago.

Here’s hoping “Stay” gives them staying power, as their album has at least three more single-worthy tracks lying in wait.
