“NICOOOOOLE!!!!” is how Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger’s dance single “Poison” kicks off, just in case you weren’t sure whose song you were listening to. (You may not be if you’re simply judging by the single cover art — we don’t know who that heavily-photoshopped woman is, but it surely does not look anything like Nicole Scherzinger.) Will this track be the one to finally get folks interested in Nicole as a solo artist? Listen below.

“Tonight, got poison on my mind,” scream-sings Scherzinger on this pulsating dance track, produced by RedOne (who also produced a slew of tunes on Nicole’s “Heartbeat” duet partner Enrique Iglesias’ latest album, Euphoria).

We have to admit, we’re not bowled over by this one, which pretty much follows a standard, predictable dance-pop formula from the double shout-out at the start to the “woosh”ing fade-out finish. Let’s hope “Poison” gets an incredible video, otherwise we think Nicole’s going to be waiting a bit longer to get her first Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 since 2008’s will.i.am collab, “Baby Love”. Then again, since when has the Hot 100 shyed away from generic pop tunes we’ve heard over and over again? This one could go either way, folks.

What do you think of NICOOOOOLE’s new song?
