Nicki Minaj And Eminem Let Their Alter Egos Roar On “Roman’s Revenge”

Is there a psychiatrist in the house? And if so, is he or she ready to play with Barbies? Nicki Minaj is back with perhaps her nuttiest track yet, a Swizz Beatz-produced blast called “Roman’s Revenge”, in which Nicki unleashes her “alter ego”, Roman Zolanski, to take on her nemeses (who go unnamed, though one is certainly Lil Kim). If that’s not crazy enough, don’t worry: she’s also brought walking funny farm Eminem (and his alter ego Slim Shady) along for the ride. Hear the kooky (and furious) new Pink Friday track below.

Eminem – Roman’s Revenge” dl=”0″] It’s fun to hear Nicki and Em match each other rant for rant, curse for curse in this bombastic showdown, and we get some interesting shout-outs to Disney’s Aladdin, iPods, and New York Giant Eli Manning along the way, amidst the more typical misogyny and homophobia from Eminem and Minaj’s very ample self-esteem. (The catchy “Ruh, ruh, like a dungeon dragon” chorus is borrowed from A Tribe Called Quest’s “Scenario,” by the way.)

There’s no way this offbeat track has the mainstream appeal of the rappers’ other recent collaborations — Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie,” especially. Still, this quirky rap provides an interesting science experiment about what happens when you get two such personalities in the studio together: you either get “Roman’s Revenge,” or they totally annihilate each other. We’re glad it was the former.
