Take That Return As A Quintet On ‘The X Factor’

Viewers of last night’s X Factor results show in the UK were treated to a trio of performances by three generations of boy bands—early ’90s pop-kings-turned-comeback-kids Take That, immensely popular Irish balladeers Westlife and the series’ own alums, JLS. Of course, Take That’s appearance took on the most significance, as it marked the first live performance from the band in 15 years with Robbie Williams as a member. Watch below. The “That” belted out their current single “The Flood,” which had to settle for a #2 debut on the UK chart this week thanks to Rihanna’s reign across the pond with “Only Girl (In The World).”

Robbie seemed a tad nervous at the onset, and a little shaky on the song’s arrangement. And what was up with those pained facial expressions? (Try some bran, Rob!)

At least the lads pulled it all together halfway through with some stellar, soaring harmonies. Take That’s sixth album Progress was released today in the UK and is currently dominating their home country’s iTunes chart.
