T.I. And The-Dream Rock The House (Of God) In Their “No Mercy” Video

It’s a little late for T.I. to confess his sins, but in the dramatic video for the title cut off his forthcoming No Mercy LP, he does maybe the next best thing — he takes us to church. Over rock riffs and a buttery hook courtesy of The-Dream, Tip speaks on redemption, the hypocrisy of his critics and boldly likens himself to the late Tupac Shakur. Is it heavenly? Watch the clip below:

“No Mercy” has to rank as the strongest collaboration between T.I. and The-Dream since “Make Up Bag”. Still, as with earlier No Mercy track “Welcome To The World”, Tip’s lyrics inspire a certain amount of head-shaking. You wonder — if he had the self-awareness to ask, “Good morning reality / Will I wake? / We’ll never know”— how did he wind up back in prison again?
