Rihanna And Christina Under Investigation For Being Too Sexy On ‘The X Factor’

Rihanna and Christina Aguilera’s performances on The X Factor finale have caused quite an uproar with British folks who don’t like their pop stars getting all sexy-like on TV. ITV, the network that airs the reality competition in the U.K., has allegedly received thousands of complaints from angry viewers expressing how offended they were by Xtina and RiRi’s gyrations and outfit choices on the show. Now there’s an investigation underway to see if X Factor is responsible for warping the minds of the innocent children of Britain.

Ofcom, a British media watchdog, is launching an investigation to see whether the singers’ performances have breached a broadcasting code of conduct that states “children must be protected by appropriate scheduling from material that is unsuitable for them.”

An ITV spokeswoman released a response, saying “We are confident that the performances given by our guest artistes on Saturday were appropriate for the show.”

In related inappropriate-content-on-X-Factor news, Simon Cowell stopped Take That’s backup dancers from wearing riot cop costumes on the show. The group’s performance was filmed mere days after a violent clash between police and students in London during tuition-related protests, and Cowell thought the outfits would be in poor taste. Right-o on that one, Simon.

Take a second look at Christina and Rihanna’s performances and tell us whether you think their moves and outfits were “unsuitable” for children. We’d understand parents going nuts if “Express” resembled anything like an actual burlesque show, but it comes off as fairly tame to us. Plus, neither performer is wearing anything all that shocking — in fact, RiRi’s  two-piece provides more coverage than your typical bikini.

So what gives? It’s not as if Xtina and RiRi were, say, miming oral sex on one another. Now that would be faint-inducing!
