After releasing three albums in 2010, it’s safe to say we won’t likely get much new material out of Robyn any time soon. That’s why we’re extra-enthusiastic about the return of fellow quirky Swede Lykke Li, who has been all too quiet over the past year or so. Now, at last, the enigmatic “Little Bit” and “I’m Good, I’m Gone” singer is underway on a new album, Wounded Rhymes (her first since Youth Novels in early 2008). Here to tantalize us is new track “I Follow Rivers”, one that suggests we have plenty to look forward to from this offbeat Swedish artist this year. Have a listen to Lykke’s new track…

A couple months back, Lykke released her first new song and video in ages, “Get Some”, which found the provocative songstress writhing around to the tribal beat in a skimpy native-inspired getup, vamping: “I’m your prostitute, you gon’ get some.” Though “I Follow Rivers” is a lot less sexualized, there are a lot of similarities in sound and instrumentation, with yet another gyration-inducing tribal beat. It’s totally in keeping with the Lykke we love from Youth Novels, yet along with “Get Some,” suggests she’s gently evolving as a musician and producing some more complex, catchy cuts.

Based on “Get Some” and “I Follow Rivers,” we’re eager to go with Lykke’s flow, wherever it takes us.
