‘Glee’ Will Tackle Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”

Entertainment Weekly sat down with Glee creator Ryan Murphy for a bevy of Season 2 spoilers, and we’re already shaking our jazz hands in anticipation: Lady Gaga, whose songs “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” have already appeared on the show, has given producers clearance to record and air her new single “Born This Way” in a March or April episode. We’re excited, and we haven’t even heard the track yet!

Find out who’s performing the number, along with other Glee Season 2 tidbits below.

Although Murphy did not specify who will be singing “Born This Way”, he says the performance will be centered around Kurt’s bully, Karofsky (played by Max Adler).

“I love that that song is anthem,” Murphy tells EW. “This show is by nature optimistic and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don’t really know what that’s going to be, but I do know we’re going to do a whole episode that’s about that song.”

Guess this means we’ll be sympathizing with Karofsky? And is there any promotional tool better for your new album than having an entire episode of Glee dedicated to your lead single?

As for some other Season 2 news, Gwyneth Paltrow will be coming back to William McKinley High as Holly Holiday. For two episodes. To date Will! And hopefully get him over Emma. Kristin Chenoweth, who plays Will’s boozy friend from high school who tries to relive her glory years, will also be returning for a multi-episode character arc.

And because not even Glee can avoid him, Chord Overstreet will be singing a Justin Bieber song to his girlfriend, Quinn. Baby, baby, baby, oh?

Glee returns to Fox February 6, right after the Super Bowl, with an episode featuring a performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. Check out this sneak peek pic to whet your appetite:
