From what’s shown here, the gist of the Marcus Raboy-directed “What The Hell” vid seems to be that Avril—who’s on the run from a boyfriend she’s no longer interested in—steals a taxi, twirls through a vintage clothing store (watch for the Abbey Dawn product placement), shoots hoops with some buff dudes (this would be the “most fun scene” she mentioned) and then ends up at a concert where she stage dives while wearing a t-shirt that says (what else?) “what the hell.”
Good ol’ Avril is so jovial. And, no—we can’t believe it took three days to shoot that, either. Maybe when we finally see the finished product, it’ll contain much more mind-blowing visuals than we got a peek at here.
“What The Hell,” the Max Martin/Shellback-produced lead single from Lavigne’s upcoming fourth album Goodbye Lullaby (due out March 8), debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #13 this week.
